What are the best tire brands for replacement on 2006 Mazda MAZDA3 sedan?

Hi, have a regular Mazda3 sedan, not a speed version or hatchback. I rotated my original tires a while back and they had worn terribly, giving me a wobbly ride. Need to buy a set this summer. I want a comfortable, safe ride. Not looking to buy Michelin but want a well perfoming tire. Any suggestions? THX

Let me answer your question with a few more questions. Do you drive in any snow, or other winter conditions? Are you looking for long treadwear, extreme handling, or both? Also, that size tires are we talking about for replacements?

Live in PA so do have winter driving conditions. Current tire is 16", model is an SD 4 cylinder. Want both long wear and excellent handling, there are a lot of curvy roads around here.Thanks.

I've been a Michelin kinda guy for a long time; Harmony's are great (had them on my Accord, & wife's CRV), & HydroEdge are said to be very good as well...Both are rated for 80,000 miles, but are pricey ($100 plus per tire)...Can save a few bucks by buying the same tire @ SAMS/COSTCO; tire is the Michelin X-Radial.

That said I just put 4 new Cooper CS4 Touring on my wife's CRV (cost ALOT less, & Motor Trend did a test last year, & they were as good/if not slightly better than the Harmony's)...So far these Cooper's seem really nice, but there's only 6,000 miles on them; how will they be after 20,000/40,000/60,000 miles? They too though are rated for 80,000 miles (or so Cooper Tire says so).

Hard choice to make IMO - go for what ya know (Michelin = great tires, will last along time, but more $$$), or save some $$$ (going with Cooper, or another brand).

Good luck.
