I would say sitting in the drivers seat What I always say is the drivers side or passengers side this eliminates any confusion as long as the driver sits on the left side as in the USA.
The left is considered to be the driver's side.
For you right hand drive owners, the left is what is on your left when sitting facing forward in the vehicle.
either way, if you are looking at front of car the door you get in to drive will be the right side if you sitting in car that would be the left side

All you have to remember is to sit in the drivers seat. You will have no problems thereon.
