The lights are indicating a problem with the braking system. If your brakes are operating normally, I think it's more likely to be an electrical malfunction than a mechanical problem. You might want to check your brake fluid level. If your brakes feel spongy, hard or sticking then it's more likely a mechanical issue and needs to be looked at.
