Where can I get the latest sales figures for all cars and trucks?

I want to expand my stock portfolio into the automotive sector and it would be helpful to know how the different manufacturers stack up with regard to sales and growth. Are the latest sales figures available anywhere?

Glen-- Watch for Edmunds press releases. We put out a sales forecast press release about a week before actual sales numbers are released, which will give you some help on what to expect when actual sales numbers are released. The most recent example is the June sales forecast.

There aren't many companies that will give you monthly auto sales info for free. Wards is a great subscription service. AutoData is also subscription, but they will give you current month sales for free on their home page. You can also check the "US Sales Reporting Calendar" on AutoData's home page to see when the automakers will publicly report their monthly sales-- announced via press release. Like Sylvia said, press releases from the automakers are your most immediate resource for getting auto sales data. Wards and AutoData will always have lag time of hours or even a day before they post sales for all the automakers.

vivianzhao-- gasgoo is focused on the Chinese auto industry, and the data and stats at the link provided are for the Chinese auto industry. While they do re-post world news on their news page, the available info is limited. To follow news and analysis of the US auto industry, US media outlets such as AutoObserver.com are better resources.

A great resource is Auto Observer at http://www.autoobserver.com which covers the industry and provides analysis. It also lists sales figures for the different manufacturers when they are published and provides analysis on what the numbers mean.

Sales for individual manufacturers are usually available on their respective media websites, which can be found doing a Google search. For example, a Google search of "Ford Monthly Sales" would guide you to this page: http://media.ford.com/newsroom/news_sect...

Manufacturers usually update their sales news releases on the first or second of every month.

For a list of all makes and models, you can go to www.autonews.com and look in their Data Center, but this is a subscriber only website that is frequented by industry professionals.

Many car news websites show the top ten sales of cars and trucks, but it's harder to find the sales figure for every car. You can trya buisiness site like Crains or buisiness magazines.
