Which of these used cars do I buy? Infiniti G35 or Acura TL?

I would like to know which one of these would be best to choose:

2005 Infiniti G35x(44k) OR 2006 Infiniti G35(50k) OR 2006 Acura TL(40k)

Numbers in the brackets indicate their mileage. I am getting all of them in a similar price range, +/- $1000.

So which would be better? Thanks..

There are some significant differences between these cars; not in areas where people would agree that one is better, but rather in areas where you would have to decide which one best matches your needs, values and tastes. The difference in odometer miles is insignificant here.

Mechanically; the 2006 Infiniti G35 is a rear wheel drive car; the 2005 Infiniti G35x is an all wheel drive car; and the 2006 Acura TL is a front wheel drive car.

The all wheel drive 2005 Infiniti G35x would offer the best traction, handling, and safety of all 3 vehicles in snow, rain, or dry pavement. This model is only available with an automatic transmission. And the quality of the 2005 model is rated slightly higher than the 2006 model. The engine on the G35 & G35x is frequently considered the smoothest and most powerful engine available in its class; while the Acura engine has a bit less power, is not quite as smooth or refined, but gets somewhat better fuel economy. The quality and design of the seats and dashboard on the Acura is generally regarded as more luxurious and of a higher level than those parts on both Infinitis.

The rear wheel drive 2006 Infiniti G35 would not handle as well in snow or rain as either the 2005 Infiniti G35x or the 2006 Acura TL; but there would be little difference between these cars on dry roads. The transmission and driveline on the 2006 G35 would be less expensive to repair than the 2005 G35x, and the feel on dry roads of a rear wheel drive car like the 2006 G35 is more familiar to older drivers, and is often preferred by performance enthusiasts over the front wheel drive Acura (except in snow; where the front wheel drive Acura would be superior to the 2006 Infiniti G35).

The brakes on both G35 models are considered to be more touchy than the Acura brakes.

The Infiniti G35 and G35x are available in both a 2 door coupe, and a 4 door sport sedan. They are also available with a 6 speed manual transmission on the G35; but not on the G35x. The Acura TL is only available as a 4 door sedan; but is sold with either an automatic or a 6 speed manual transmission.

If one of the cars you are considering has a manual transmission; it would be generally more durable and less expensive to repair than an automatic. It would also give better fuel economy.

I feel it is important to have any car you seriously consider thoroughly inspected and evaluated by a qualified mechanic or diagnostic center. If any of these 3 cars has been in a major accident, abused or improperly maintained; that would make it far less desirable to buy than either of the other cars. And only a mechanic will know how to determine and evaluate those factors.

I hope this helps in your decision!!!
Joel
