    I suggest you first stiop at your local auto parts store and get an OBD II scan to see what codes were thrown by the transmission , if any, as a result of the malfunction. I suspect your problem is not mechanical but a malfunction in the transmission control module (TCM). The TCM controls the shifting of the transmission via its interface with the engine computer and the transmissions solenoid pack. One other frequent problem with this transmission is a bad ground strap which causes erratic shifting problems like yours, so have that checked as well.
