Why isn't new clutch engaging?

I installed new clutch, pp, and flywheel. We bled the clutch till clear, test drove the car one block with two gear changes and lost drive to the front wheels. The gears are engaging, but the clutch is not. What might have happened?
We pushed the car back, checked the shift linkage, rebled the clutch, and still no power to the front wheels. Hmmm...ideas?

Is it possible you got the disk in backwards?

Does the pedal feel normal, soft or hard?
If soft, then see if the clutch slave is moving when someone steps on the clutch. It should move about an inch or so.
If it doesn't move, then you know it is either a clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder or fluid problem.

If it does move, then you may have to take the transmission loose again to see what failed, whether it is the pressure plate, bolts or a disk in backwards.

what kind of car is it and if it worked for those first 2 gears do you remember how it felt. also what about the throw out bearing and the fork are they properly installed. and what do you mean when you say "the gears are engaging."? it obviously has nothing to do with the fluid. I am curious to know what you mean by "the gears engage" can you hear the gears spinning but the car does not move? or do you mean it will go into every gear?

sounds to me like you have a front wheel drive vehicle and from your description check the axles on the car one of them may not have seated all the way into the transaxle or is missing the axle clip that holds it in place

did you line up the new clutch properly with the pressure plate? Its a really cheap tool that lines up the splines.
