You probably already checked this but is your power steering fluid level ok? I always check the easy stuff first. If the level is good, I would try to think of a reason the pressure drops when you accelerate. Usually a pump makes more pressure the faster it turms so if the level is good, torque steer might be doing something to the rack that causes it to loose pressure in the rack. Another reason might be the pump cavatating (sorry about the spelling) causing air to get into the hydraulics and give a low pressure problem. A pressure gage on the pressure side might give you a clue to what is happening, one thing is for sure, this is not normal or safe. Any other ideas guys?

could also be a faulty switch or sensor of some sort because these have electric assist power steering. take it into the dealer if you're still under warrantee
