Why won't my 98 Pontiac Sunfire (with newly replaced and coded ignition) run for more than 2 seconds and how do I fix it?
My key to my 98 Pontiac Sunfire broke off in my ignition, so I had a new ignition switch installed and coded. The car will start, but only runs for a few seconds then shuts off. The check engine light is not on, the battery is fully charged, the gas tank is full, the fuel pump is working. The anti-theft system light flashes roughly 5 or 6 times after the car shuts off, and you can still hear the fuel pump running. In order to restart the car, you have to turn the key back fully to the off position, then turn it forward,(although it will turn over,it wont restart from the on position). Is there something we are missing? Ive had 3 mechanics look at it. is there a hidden fuse, reset switch or a fuseable link? If so where could I possibly find it? Any suggestions are welcome.Thank you.
