2000 Isuzu Trooper. It's an automatic. It slips and shakes bad in first. After second gear it's like new. Sensor? Thank you.

hi i have a 2000 trooper when i start off it slips and shacks very bad i have to push the gas very slow after it goes to 2ed and all the other gears works like new? its a (auto) 4 speed can it be a sensor? or a adjustment? im just thinking it can be to bad or why the other gears not act up??? and is it bad to change the trans oil? it has about 140000 on the trans. i just bought this suv. ok thank you!!!!

It is never bad to change the ATF fluid and that may fix your problem. Drain and flush out the tranny and refill with the correct ATF fluid. Drop the pan and change the filter. Check the pan for metal filings and clean them off the magnet. I would go to a shop that has a power flush machine that will suck out all the fluid efficiently. If this does not do the trick, check the TCM module for proper operation. You can also go to an auto parts store and get a free OBDII scan that will tell you if you have fault codes coming from the transmission and identify the faulty sensor or module.
