Any solution for a noisy back axle on a Subaru Forester 2002?

the axle is becoming noisy, is there an additive for the axle fluid? I intend to keep the vehicle for about 2 more years, until I retire. It has done 96,oo miles.

If the noise is humming, growling or grinding sound that goes up or down with the speed of the car, it is usually a bad wheel bearing. This is relatively easy and inexpensive to repair. It is quite dangerous to continue to drive with this condition, so you should have this checked immediately. You should also check the rear axle fluid level to make sure it is full. That fluid should be checked every 15,000 miles and replaced every 30,000 miles. It can be checked easily at your regularly scheduled oil change
