black or silver paint color. Pros & cons anyone?

I am very close to purchasing a 2008 honda accord and can't decide to go with my dream of a black paint or should I go safe and get the silver?

White if you are a female and black if you are a male.

Black is beautiful, but only when it is clean. The slighest dust is highly noticeable, and if you care about the car will drive you nuts....and be very high maintenance. Look at other black cars, and you'll see what I mean.

To me, silver is the way to go, doesn't show dirt and can go weeks without having to wash it.

One poster in a BMW forum little while ago, had a black one for two days and was trying to trade it back in because of the dust/dirt.

Neither black or silver. Black gets a dirty face fast. Silver is attractive but according to the auto paint specialists of Dupont has now fallen to second place as the most popular color. White is now first. I have a 2008 EX-L V6 coupe which is striking in white. It gets a lot of compliments, stays clean, is highly visible and shows off the beautiful shape of the car. I made the right choice.

Color is so very personal. As others have said, black is a bear to keep clean but those who enjoy washing their car don't mind that because of the look. You have to make sure that you have the right materials to keep it clean without getting swirl marks. That means hand washing only with microfiber or sheepskin cloths.

The dark color absorbs heat so that is a factor for some. Interior color also effects this as well.

Silver doesn't look as dirty after the rain. It is more forgiving when being washed but you don't get the deep shine as with a darker color. If you live in an area where it rains quite a bit, you will appreciate the silver. Also, if there is a lot of wind and dust in the air, silver will hide that better than black as well.

Good luck!

Black is good if you want to fry eggs on your car.
White is good if you want to stay cool but does get dirty and shows it extensively. White hides scratches well.
Silver hides scratches well, and is a good all around choice.
Beige is the best at never looking dirty and can go eons w/o being washed.

If you want black be sure you keep it from getting a ding or dent-That one dent will definetly show. Black requires a perfect body.
Silver kinda hides dents.

Personally I would never get a silver car. IMO, silver lacks personality. no more white cars for me either because it shows dirt beyond belief. Even after morning dew(often in miami) my car is already filthy looking. I don't really care for black cars. The best thing for them would be Rolls Royce Black Wax/Polish and your car will be beautiful beyond belief!

For 2008, I think the best accord color is Mystic Green! 2nd would be Polished Metal and 3rd would be Nighthawk Black.
