my experience with my 1999 911 porsche - unlocking the hood

hi mr shiftright . the option of the red fuse to find boost to the battery was not available until 2002 . the lighter to lighter did not work for me .. i did find the emergency hood cable . which is located around the back of the passenger headlight . one must take the plastic liner off and feel and feel believe me it is there. it is there ; than give the battery a normal battery cable jump. hope this helps someone else AJL

Ah thanks for the feedback. It's so hard to keep track of all the changes year to year. Obviously, the secret cable was not to many people's liking. The red tab seems a lot easier. Well now you're a member of the secret club!

I don't have a "99 911 Porche carrera turbo. I have a 2001 Porche Carrera Turbo. Sorry to hear of AJLs' bad luck with his 2002. Your trick did the thing. Thank you dear Man. The cig lighter thing is a waste. Found the fuse box, found the red tab, hooked up the cables and after playing with it for a few seconds, sparks, and then "POP"! Must be electrical. Either way, thank you kind sir. Thought my Sunday was completly shot.
