one speed sensor

Okay so the left sensor is my speed sensor for my truck. The one on the right turned out to only be for my 4wd. You were right there is nothing to clean on the sensor it is all closed up. The Sensor was real loose when I took it out, the weight of the wrench on it was enough to turn it. It would be nice if it was that simple. Any way the next plan is if it was not that simple "that it just needed tightened" is I want to switch the two sensors and see what happens, they look to be the same part and I've not had any issues with the 4wd so thinking this maybe the cheaper way to trouble shoot it. Any thoughts?

As mentioned before, I would just unplug and replug the connector on the VSS, just to make sure it was getting a good electrical connection.

I don't know that the other sensor is the same. If they do have the same numbers on them if legible, and they look identical in size and penetration to where the gearing is, then I guess it's a reasonable risk to swap them. It just doesn't make sense that VSS could be your problem, given the computers and ultimately speed control (which VSS feeds) works fine.

Hate to say it, but I think you should be looking at cluster #6
