dansram	What is causing the grinding noise in my Dodge Ram 1500 4x4? I have a 2003 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 Off Road Package. When I am in 2 wheel drive I hear what seems to be a grinding noise somewhere, but when I am in 4 wheel drive or 4 wheel low it's fine. It was working fine today and then it started under no load when I started to go out, hope it's not a serious problem.

I am wondering if your automatic-enguaging front axles are not disenguaging when in 2WD?...hence, the front wheels are spinning the front axles when they are supposed to be free.
