What's wrong with my Pontiac Firebird and the exhaust and the catalytic converter?

2000 Firebird auto v6 pipes are making weird sounds while in park or driving. A little smoke comes from the exhaust and gas fumes smell. The catalytic converter is shaking and making weird sounds also. I can drive it but doesn't have good acceleration like it did and when I get on it and makes a real loud sound from the straight pipes and service engine light is on but stays on until I get on it or gives it a little gas then starts blinking. What could this be? Any help is appreciated.

Sounds like the cat is plugged up,,,or the cat is burned out, time to replace it.

Go to the muffler shop, they can check the exhaust pressure and make a better determination.
