will a 2000 gmc sonoma moter fit to a 1996 s10 and will the wiring harness work

Ok i need to take the motor out of a 2000 gmc sonoma i had wrecked the truck but the moter is fine ..well in the wreck i tore up the wiring harness i have a s10 i can drop the moter in i need to know if the s 10's brain and harness can fit on the gmc's moter they are both 4 cyl with manual trans

Are they the same size engine?
If they are, check the 8th digit of the VIN on both vehicles.
If they are the same, then there is a chance that they will swap.

Most likely, they won't though.

Almost all salvage yards and some libraries have the Hollander Interchange Manual which should have the information you need.
